Open Soundcheck Tour 2018
Versatile and engaging saxophonist Julian Costello is off on his travels again this autumn with his stellar quartet taking in a string of dates in France and the UK. Keen to deepen engagement with the audiences, this time the tour takes the form of an Open Soundcheck before each gig. He aims to demystify what goes on behind the scenes and encourage dialogue between audience and artists which will feed into a more intimate concert atmosphere later on. Arts Council England liked the idea and awarded him a National Lottery Project Grant to support the tour.

Julian Costello: saxes
Maciek Pysz: guitars
Michele Tacchi: double bass
Adam Teixeira: drums

“Julian Costello is an extremely moody player on both saxophones and his compositions cover many musical areas … an emotive and soulful tenor player” Jazzwise Magazine
“Pysz is a quiet virtuoso who has developed into one of the most distinctive guitarists around” The Jazz Mann
“Costello is a left leaning out there tenor player” The Guardian
“The musical and cultural polarity displayed by this International group from their diverse backgrounds is proof that open music can provide the perfect meeting place to create something unique” Iain Ballamy
