Eagles comes to Toon

samueleagles1Samuel Eagles, one of the rising stars of the London jazz scene, brings his quartet to the Jazz Bar at the Globe on Saturday 7 November. He will also be running a jazz workshop at the Sage in the afternoon.

On the previous two nights the quartet will have played at the Blue Lamp in Aberdeen and the Jazz Bar in Edinburgh – the two best jazz clubs in Scotland – so let’s give them a warm Geordie welcome.

Unusually the two best known jazz bloggers in Tyneside (who don’t often agree) are both urging people not to miss this gig – using very similar praise.

“Samuel has emerged from the eyrie in full flight displaying a technique well capable of expressing the multitudinous rush of ideas that flow from his head/soul via either alto or soprano.”
Lance Liddle, Bebop Spoken Here

“Sam’s quartet injects plenty of contemporary passion into a slightly more mainstream format. The leader unleashes a torrent of ideas from his saxophone.”
Paul Bream, Jazz Alert

You can expect top quality original jazz – contemporary yet rooted in the jazz tradition – from:
Samuel Eagles – Saxophones
Ralph Wyld – Vibraphone
Daniel Casimir – Double Bass
Dave McKeague – Drums

In the afternoon, from 2pm to 6pm, Samuel and Daniel will be leading our monthly Play Jazz! workshop at Sage Gateshead. Participants will able to attend the evening gig at half price.

Admission to the gig is £10 on the door or you can buy in advance from http://skdl.it/1iRf2WL
